Your Browser Tabs Intervention

Hi, come on in, have a seat. Thanks for coming. Your friends and I have been wanting to talk to you for quite a while. It's about your browser tabs.

Yes, I know. You need all of those open tabs  because you're working on so many things at once. That's what good multi-taskers do. But, just like chocolate, snow, or reality television, too much can be a bad thing.

Yes, I know, you're working on ALL of these things at the same time...

Sure, tabs look like cute little bumps at the top of your browser, and they're so handy. But what you don't realize is that each tab it really it's own separate computer program. You wouldn't try to run 25 computer programs on you laptop at once would you? Yet, that's exactly what you're doing with 25 open tabs.

Sometimes you have so many open tabs, you don't even remember what you have, and you start duplicating your tabs. You know it's true. And then you blame your computer for being so slow.

Don't feel singled out. Every day, people come to me for tech help, but all their mouse pointer can do is one of these:

This is how your computer cries (Windows and Mac versions)

This is your computer's cry for help, and it's tragic to see. As a human example, you know when someone comes to you and says "Would you like to join our committee?" but you're already in 10 committees? Tabs are like committees for your computer that they can't say "no" to. See that little puddle next to your keyboard? That's your computer crying real tears.

Now, we know that no matter what we say, you're not ready to give up all those tabs. "What am I supposed to do, remember stuff?" you say. Of course not, this is the 21st Century. But you can give your computer a well-deserved break with this handy Chrome extension called Save Tabs.

Save Tabs saves and closes all of those open tabs with one click.  Don't worry, you can open your tabs back up one at a time when you need them. Or all at once, if you're cruel and enjoy the sound of sobbing computer hardware.

So Save Tabs can be a huge help. But seriously, stop blaming your computer for being slow when it's only doing what you told it to.

Admitting you have a problem is the first step. Using Save Tabs is the second step. Then you're on your way to getting your relationship with your computer back on track: holding hands, walks on the beach, and just a better quality-of-life for everyone.
